A journey that began years ago in the small towns and villages of Russia brought me to the Xposure International Photography & Film Festival in Sharjah. There, Russia at Dusk was presented to an international audience and unexpectedly led to one of the most important awards of my photographic life.
A simple advertising idea turned into an unexpectedly complicated search for the right truck. We needed to create an image that would make people stop and look when the Spice House delivery vehicles passed them on the streets of Phuket — and finding the truck for the shoot became a little adventure of its own.
A portrait of a Phuket athlete and motorcycle enthusiast, created around the two things that seemed to define him equally well: physical strength and the machine he loved. The challenge was to make the photograph feel less like a simple portrait and more like a moment from the world he had built around himself.
A strange little story born in one of Phuket’s most famous old hotels — a photograph about waiting, expectation, and the things that may or may not happen behind a closed door. The picture later received a Silver Award at the International Photography Awards.
One of Thailand's most meaningful daily traditions takes place at sunrise, when Buddhist monks collect alms from locals. In Amphawa, a historic canal community southwest of Bangkok, some monks travel by boat instead of walking through the streets.
A fine art self-portrait exhibition at Sage Gallery Bangkok featuring the photographic work of Dmitry . The exhibition included artist talks, media interviews, and discussions with visitors about contemporary photography and visual storytelling.
Photography is often associated with beautiful locations, inspiring people, and unforgettable experiences. While that is certainly true, every successful project is also built on preparation, discipline, and persistence. Behind a single photograph there may be days of planning, long journeys, unexpected challenges, changing weather, technical problems, or countless hours of work that never appear in the final image.
The same is true for exhibitions, publications, speaking events, and personal projects. What people usually see is the finished result. What they rarely see is the process behind it — the effort, the uncertainty, the mistakes, and the lessons learned along the way.
Yet with time, the difficulties fade and the memories remain. Looking back through photographs, stories, and notes from past projects often reveals something more valuable than the images themselves: the people met, the places discovered, and the experiences that made the journey worthwhile. This journal is a record of those moments.
